- December 2009: New link to the Breeding Value Hip Dysplasia website created by Dr. Rory Todhunter, Professor of Surgery, Dept. of Clinical Sciences, is now available. You will need to be a registered user to use this application. Questions can be directed to Dr. Todhunter at rjt2@cornell.edu. For more information about hip dysplasia studies at the Baker Institute, see the faculty pages of Dr. George Lust.
- November 2009: Science magazine publishes the article "Genome Sequence, Comparative Analysis, and Population Genetics of the Domestic Horse," co-authored by Dr. Doug Antczak. An article in the Cornell Chronicle describes Dr. Antczak and Twilight the horse, who was the DNA donor for the genome sequencing project. An earlier NIH news release from 2/7/07 on the horse genome project and Twilight remains available on the web.
- October 2009: Welcome to the Feline Health Center!
- The Cornell Feline Health Center has joined the Baker Institute for Animal Health under the directorship of Dr. Judith Appleton and co-directors, Drs. Chris Bellezza and Paul Maza. The FHC web site and consultation service can be accessed via the above link.
- Dr. Alex Travis wins prestigious NIH Pioneer Award. See Cornell Chronicle article 9/24/09.
- New York Times article from 5/4/09 on evolving viruses such as the new swine flu; includes interview with Dr. Colin Parrish, Professor of Virology at the Baker Institute.
- Alice H. and Constance E. Cook Award, April 2009, to Dr. Judy Appleton, in recognition of her work on gender equity issues at Cornell.
